Renewed Partnership with The Common Application for Portfolios

We have just renewed our longstanding partnership with The Common Application to support portfolios during the admissions process. Our collective goal is to expand access to college by creating a convenient way to submit and review personally meaningful projects.

Every student should have the opportunity to feature their talents and ambitions during the admissions process. Our three-year integration with SlideRoom has helped nearly 400,000 students express their unique traits and showcase their skills through online, multimedia portfolios.

-Chad Massie, Senior Director of Technology for The Common Application.

The Common Application renamed their “Art Supplement” to the more inclusive “Portfolio” in 2015 in response to overwhelming interest from schools with departments outside of the arts that had applicants wanting to submit evidence of their skills and achievements. Everything from prize-winning robots and software projects to surfboards and songwriting have been submitted through The Common Application Portfolio powered by SlideRoom. While portfolios are optional for some departments, they create a new opening for students to demonstrate how they apply their knowledge, which helps admissions officers efficiently determine fit and merit.
